Gaia Reborn
Gaia Reborn, the hottest MMORPG of the last decade, has seen millions of players experience its unique world - a combination of fantasy and reality. When Gaia Reborn was a game, one goal was to make the game world a one-half scale model of the real world. This pursuit was known as the Half-Gaia Project, and it is one of the aspects which led to Gaia Reborn becoming such a popular virtual world. With regional servers having unique areas, quests, cities, and monsters, it wasn't uncommon for people to create alternate characters on other servers to experience what felt like an entirely new game.
Ten years after the game's launch, millions of players have joined and created countless characters across the many servers. Now, with the release of the latest expansion, Pioneers of Arcadia, many are getting ready to begin new adventures in the new Italian server, exploring the new region corresponding to Italy, known in Gaia as Italia. Characters would have to start from fresh in this new world, but Italy would finally get its own piece of this world.
Countless players created their characters, logged in with excitement fueling their hands as the cursor swept across the screen, and then... darkness... Everything was black, and as their eyes opened, the players found themselves in the streets of an unfamiliar city. Looking around to survey their surroundings, many players realized this city was not so new after all. While desolate and ruined, the architecture conquered by vines and greenery, this city was unmistakably Rome, but at the same time, it was not. Finding themselves in the bodies of their characters, trapped in the world of Gaia Reborn, players are left to adapt to their new reality in this fantasy world.
Mikey stood upon a hill on the outskirts of Tivoli. He stared down at the path beside the hill, waiting. After around a minute, a wagon in the distance appeared in his field of vision. It headed towards in a direction perpendicular to his location.
Target spotted. He thought.
Mikey looked at the approaching wagon, which was being dragged by horses, and full of gods. Its driver appeared to be a middle aged human man. The driver didn't pay any attention to Mikey or his surroundings as he was about to pass the hill he was standing on.
Mikey jumped in the air just as the wagon passed by his direction.
He briskly landed on the wagon's cover. The cover stretched from the sudden weight being exerted on it. The driver turned around, very alarmed at the sudden occurrence. "WAH!?-"
The driver couldn't finish his exclamation of shock however due to Mikey's fist colliding with his face and then sending him flying out of the wagon sideways.
Every bump, every deviation from the cart track and maybe even every single loose stone on the road made Johanna’s armor rattle beside her. She was crammed into the loading space of a human merchant’s horse carriage on his way to Tivoli and had had to take off her armor to bend her body enough to comfortably fit in between all the stockpiled goods around her. If not for the kind middle-aged man’s offer, she would have walked all the way from Romalia to Tivoli, but for some reason he had insisted to give her a ride. He had said something about her expression reminding him of his nine-year-old mute nephew. Whatever that had meant. She did not mind. Although Johanna’s body was much brawnier and more capable than her real self Sola, running around in armor all the time had tired her out. Henceforth being crammed into a loading space in the long whitish undergarments this game had provided her with, so she didn’t have to wear armor on her bare flesh, was a welcome and even relaxing experience.
Suddenly a dull thud and a wave going through the now slightly more stretched cover above her. Finally, something interesting happened again. A loud “WAH!?-“ and the kind middled-aged man was being knocked from the jockey box. Curious of what was going on, Johanna contorted her body even more and sticked her head forwards inbetween her bent legs to get a better view on the carriage’s front. A tall upright figure had replaced the slouched over merchant.
“Are you supposed to be a robber?”, Johanna gently asked out of curiosity from her rather vulnerable position in the loading space. Even if she had wanted to get ready for a fight, there was not enough room for her to put on her armor, move around or even draw her sword. But since she did not intend to do anything about this situation in the first place, it wasn’t much of an issue. Tags: Mikey01 Word Count: 331 Total Word Count: 331
Mikey adjusted his position at the front of the wagon and moved forward to take the saddles. He took the role of driver and started to guide the horses to keep driving it along the path ahead.
Hearing the sound of a female voice, Mikey turned around with a blank expression to see a dark haired Alven lady sitting behind him. Reading her name through the user interface, his thoughts went somewhere along the line of surprise and indifference. Johanna huh? .. I didn't think I'd be robbing wagons and human trafficking in the same day..
He turned his attention to the horses in front of him and faced them. Hm.. I should use the NPC test..
He replied to the lady's query. "I'm just a wagon robber yea. And you? Where are you headed? Can you also try reading the username over my head?"
Only being able to see the figure’s back due to it having overtaken the carriage’s reins, Johanna could not really make out, what kind of person she was dealing with. Whoever they were, replied with a similar indifference to her being there than she had shown them: “I’m just a wagon robber, yeah. And you? Where are you headed? Can you also try reading the username over my head?”
The voice sounded male, although that did not really tell Johanna anything. It was interesting, however, that he asked, whether she could read his username. So he was another player or an NPC breaking the 4th wall. Either way, she was hooked and wanted to know, where this story would lead to.
“I’m an unhidden stowaway. Don’t mind me. Now I’m going, wherever you are going, ‘Mikey01’.”
The numbers were a bit awkward for the name of some edgy anti-hero or your common ruffian, but she had to give some credit for nonchalantly kicking such a nice merchant off the carriage mid-movement without some stupid evil laughter or needless mysterious comment. The weird fictitious but actually realistic action of robbing a simple carriage this honest and serious and down to earth was enough to keep Johanna’s attention. Never mind the intriguing fact that the robber did not even act a little surprised of her presence. Anyways, she was now a supernumerary in the middle of some other person’s story and should probably behave like one.
“Soo, what will you do? Is this some sort of quest? I’ve never experienced something like this before in a game, so I am not quite familiar, how to behave. If you need ropes to tie me up, there’s one right here.” She picked up a furled hemp rope sitting behind her armor. “I’d prefer it, when you wouldn’t use a blindfold or gag.” As a hostage it was quite obvious to her that she probably did not have a say in that, but she at least had to try preserving her own senses or she would have trouble to follow along the narrative. Mikey listened to Johanna's response and contemplated. So a player huh? And one that seems curious but not provoked by my prior action. Interesting.
He replied back with a simple "Right."
He went back to thinking and driving, but was caught off guard by his interesting companion.
He turned his head to see Johanna holding a rope as she went over her query, which he interpreted as her asking him to tie her up in bondage. Mikey had one eyebrow raised throughout the whole episode, with a more surprised expression in comparison to his blank indifference from before.
His mind tried to rationalize Johanna. No one asks to be tied up after being caught up in a robbery.. This girl is either crazy or really into BDSM
He stopped pondering and looked at her with the blank expression from before. "Uh.. I have no interest in restraining you as long as you dont get in my way.
He then turned to his front to focus on driving and asked "Why do you wanna follow me anyway? Trying to party up with a fellow player? Trying to rope in a cut of whatever profits I make from these goods? Or..?"
The driver, robber or kidnapper, all depending on the perspective, reacted to Johanna’s questions by turning his head around and for the first time revealing his face to her. It was by itself a rather unremarkable one: The proportions looked boyish and the skin spotless. Due to its leanness, it almost seemed a bit feminine and would have fit an Asian idol more than a cart raider if it weren’t for the messy brown hair and emotionless look. One of Mikey01’s eyebrows was raised in an expression resembling something in-between mild surprise and mild fascination, while he was simply staring at the girl in utterly unfashionable, unerotic underwear with a hemp rope in hand as if she were a lemon in a breadbasket. Johanna simply stared back with childish curiosity emanating from her eyes above her right knee.
After a while Mikey01’s eyebrow dropped to a less expressive level and his mouth formed words: “Uh … I have no interest in restraining you as long as you don’t get in my way.” Johanna was both relieved and disappointed. On one hand she would not have to deal with contorting her body and limiting her movement even more, but on the other hand she felt robbed of the narrative experience, she desired, and the bodily sensation, her curiosity for which she didn’t quite understand.
His face turned towards the road again, but he continued speaking, albeit a bit harder to understand now. “Why do you wanna follow me anyway? Trying to party up with a fellow player? Trying to rope in a cut of whatever profits I make from these goods? Or…?” He left his last question unfinished, probably incapable of coming up with a more reasonable approach to Johanna’s intentions. Party up? Rope in a cut of profits? The first one was partly understandable for her, but she really wasn’t such a social person to make friends in a game. The second one only confused her. What would she even need profits for? And even if, weren’t there better ways to get to money?
“I am interested in the experience … of being witness and victim of a cart raid ... as well as your unfolding story”, she replied honestly instead. The hemp rope was still firmly in her left hand. It was weird. She understood, why this robber didn’t see her as a threat and pretty much ignored her physical presence. After all she had revealed herself to him as merely an observer. However, it somewhat broke the immersion of the unfolding story. What kind of robber would simply trust a stranger to not intervene with his robbery or flee to the authorities to report him? It was as if she wasn’t physically present as her player avatar, but somehow as the player itself. While she was contemplating on these issues, Sola fell silent and let Johanna’s torso move back between the stockpiled goods. Tags: Mikey01 Word Count: 484 Total Word Count: 1133
Mikey silent nodded to himself in response to Johanna's answer. He stayed silent and continued to guide the horses to propel the wagon forward.
After half an hour, he slowed the wagon's advance and focused on some slowly approaching woods to the side of its path. He lets go of the reigns and steered the wagon to a stop after a minute. The cart stands still beside the woods leading to a forest.
Mikey's brows furrowed as he felt something was off about this location and looked at the woods stretching into a forest. He thought for a moment. This is odd. Wasn't there supposed to be a contact from the Red Daemon's here? Julian said this was the spot where I would hand over the goods..
He faced the woods and jumped out of the wagon. He turned to the tent and said something in Johanna's direction. "I'm heading out for a bit. Do whatever you want."
He then proceeded to walk on a path leading into the woods. Going through many bushes and shrubs, Mikey's temperament remained calm but became slightly anxious the longer he went without finding anything of importance. What's going on here?..
Eventually, Mikey saw a silhouette in front of him in the distance. He approached the silhouette and was shocked to see incapacitated bodies near it. As he got closer, he was able to distinguish who the bodies belonged to after observing the tattoos on their bodies. He let out a silent gasp and briefly stopped walking. Red Daemon's members? How did they get beaten down?.. Who?
He kept walking finally reached the silhouetted figure and was able to read its name on the interface: Adelbert Gedeon. Mikey was caught off guard as a memory rushed through his mind. He stood still and looked at Adelbert with clenched teeth. Adelbert was a tall and lean Antas Duelist. He had fair skin, long red hair and a long tail which was covered by a black coat. His yellow scarf fluttered as he stared at the comatose Red Daemon's agents beside him with a calm demeanor.
Adelbert turned to lock his eyes on the tense Mikey and uttered a gentle greeting with a smile. "Hi Adonis. I hope you won't resist arrest like last time." He then tapped the sheath which held a long blade on his belt.
Mikey’s and Johanna’s conversation was over. For a moment a gentle, cold sensation gripped Johanna’s heart, the reason why she did not comprehend. After a while of silence, she let go of the hemp rope in her left hand and closed her eyes. It was probably quite a distance, until they would stop again. The whole time she wondered and imagined, where they were going.
It did not take an hour, before Mikey01 stopped the cart and told Johanna, that he would be heading out and she could do whatever she pleased. There was only one word popping into her head after all this wait: boring. What a boring turn of events. For a moment, Johanna thought about just staying in the cart as a proper hostage. However, she soon dismissed the idea. Mikey01 wasn’t treating her as such and would probably not start to any time soon. Additionally, he would most certainly not feed her exposition in some kind of villainous monologue to explain to her, what he had done in the meantime, which made staying in the cart even less appealing. So, she decided to follow him. She put her armor and weapon, however, inside her magic pouch. The thought of being attacked by monsters wasn’t particularly exciting, but a hostage following a robber openly armed was just wrong. Still wearing her long whitish undergarments, she jumped out of the wagon, which was parked next to a small path leading into a nearby forest. Some distance into the forest Johanna could make out a figure resembling Mikey01’s back, so she took the same path and followed.
After a while, she was able to catch up to him, because Mikey01 had stopped in front of an Antashi Gaian standing in the midst of scattered bodies. Other than Mikey01’s rather practical appearance, this man, apparently called Adelbert Gedeon judging from the UI, was dressed rather stylishly and had taken a proud posture. His eyes were fixated on the robber before him, and he greeted him by informing him of his arrest. Johanna went closer towards the scene, so that she reached the Antas’ wider field of perception, at the time, he tapped on the sheath of his sword.
“So, you are already wanted?”, Johanna asked calmly and a bit surprised, “And you, over there, why are you calling that robber a beautiful young man?” Although the second question may appear like an insult, she said it in a tone of honest curiosity. After all, she had no idea about the beauty standards of this world yet. Word Count: 426 Total Word Count: 1559 Tags: Mikey01
Mikey swayed his head slightly behind briefly to reply to Johanna. "Yea. I am."
Meanwhile, Adelbert turned to look at her in surprise after her inquiry. Beautiful? Adonis? Ah!- He smiled at Johanna. "Ah yes! Adonis is the name of your fellow!-"
Adelbert's response was interrupted however, when a dagger flew past his face. The dagger was near inches from his throat the moment he lunged backward to dodge it. He quickly turned his focus in the direction the dagger came from to find a sword heading for him. Drawing his own sword to intercept the oncoming sword, Adelbert found himself clashing with Mikey to hold back his advancing strike. Adelbert looked at Mikey as sparks from their locked swords flew past him and said "You're not even going to let us finish the formalities? Who's the lady? An accomplise? One more arrest to add-"
Mikey in annoyance at Adelbert's barrage of questions raised his sword and winded it down at Adelbert to push him back. "Shut up." Adelber's blade stood firm as he held his groumd against Mikey's onslaught. Adelbert continued trying to nudge him to give answers. "Come on. You'll have to answer sooner or later. Might as well get it over with now."
Adonis was his name? Johanna was quick to adapt to the fact, that Mikey01 was apparently a wanted criminal. However, this struck her as odd. The name, she was seeing above his head was a completely different one. And if it was his player’s name, why would an NPC know it?
She had not much time thinking about these matters, before the situation before her ignited. Mikey01 had taken opportunity of Adelbert’s chattiness to sneak in a first strike, but his thrown dagger got evaded and his sword caught in a bind. Apparently, Adelbert wasn’t too impressed by Mikey01’s offense and managed to keep talking, while simultaneously defending against his opponent’s blade. Mostly he inquired about the circumstances of Johanna’s relationship with the robber. To her dismay his first guess was an accomplice. Did he really believe, an unarmed woman in her armor’s undergarments was the accomplice of a carriage robber and wanted man? This law enforcer, or whatever Adelbert was, seemed to be rather arrest happy.
For a short while, Johanna just stood there and observed the spectacle, which looked less like an actual fight and more like Adelbert controlling the situation to her. Then she decided to put on her heavy armor. Wherever this was going, she didn’t want to end up like all these comatose henchmen with matching tattoos surrounding them. She still refused to ready her sword, though. She had no intention to join this fight yet. Instead, her curiosity got the better of her and she carefully drew closer to the two fighting combatants to both get a better look and get into a more comfortable talking range.
“I’m not an accomplice. This guy just robbed the carriage I was travelling in. And why don’t you two just stop fighting? This really doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere.” She tilted her head to make sure it didn’t look different from another perspective. “So, who are you, Mr. Gedeon? For an Antas you seem to do rather well.”

Adelbert answered Johanna as he and Mikey continuted their clash, "I dont think my friend is interested in stopping and getting locked up in a cell while answering to some very angry people. As for me. I'm just a humble town guard." Mikey simply grunted and kept pushing toward him in response.
After a second, Mikey pulled back and turned to his side, while lifting right leg. He then proceeded to give Adelbert a kick in the stomach, pushing him back and creating a little distance between them. He then dashed toward him for a forward strike.
Adelbert however, blocked the attack with one of his swords, and jumped towards Mikey. Mikey looked at his fast approaching visage, being caught offguard. Adelbert then broke into a powerful flurry of slashes. He spun with each slash, ripping into his chest. Mikey gritted his teeth in pain as rapid cuts were made on his body. Adelbert stopped after the fourth rotation of slashes and kneeled forward. Mikey now stood a few meters in front of him, reeling back from thr damage of his attack. Adelbert took a moment to catch his break and energy.
Mikey took the opportunity and caught his balance. He clutched his chest with one hand began running away from Adelbert. He breifly glanced at Johanna with a tense expression and dashed.
“Just a humble town guard, hm?”, Johanna thought, while keeping her eyes on the rapid movements between the two duelists. For a humble town guard, Adelbert’s swordsmanship was rather impressive. Albeit being pushed back by Mikey’s leg, he held his composure and redirected Mikey’s offensive into his own attack. The robber’s guard was broken, and Adelbert quickly slashed him multiple times in just a short moment. Apparently, he had dealt enough damage to Mikey, so that he started to flee. His HP bar was indeed missing a big chunk. Before he had completely turned his back to them, Mikey had given Johanna one last look, she couldn’t really decipher. His lips and eyes were tense. Was it just from the pain? Or did he expect her to do something? Was there even something, she could do?
Blood rushed into her brain, as she was trying to figure out what to do now. In a movie or book the perspective of the story would follow one of the two characters, however, she was in a game and had to control the perspective herself. Before she knew it, she was running in the same direction Mikey was sprinting towards. She simply had to know how this would all develop.
Without weapons in her hands and standing, Johanna had a head start in front of Adelbert, who first had to regain composure and was somewhat visibly exhausted from the fight. Her real self would have never been able to follow anyone running away from her, but Johanna was even strong enough to do so in full armor and even more so, after she had quickly put her armor off via the character menu. Again in her whitish, long undergarments, Johanna began to catch up with the injured man she was following and probably got farer ahead of the duelist. In her mind, she quickly went through different possibilities. Would Mikey be able to reach the cart with a long enough distance to Adelbert? If so, Johanna would probably be able to still jump on. Or would Adelbert reach Mikey in time and most likely arrest him? If so, she had to make sure to not get caught between the fronts. Word Count: 367 Total Word Count: 2258 Tags: Mikey01
Mikey sprinted in the direction that he took to get into the forest. He eventually saw his now stolen cart and its accompanying horses still waiting at the spot where we left them. He jumped on the cart and took a hold of its reigns.
He then turned in direction he came from and was surprised to see Johanna, with a fast approaching Adelbert behind her. So she followed me.. He observed the exchange between her and Adelbert. Adelbert was running hastily behind her and was saying something along the lines of "Miss! Why are you following that robber!" Or so he could make out.
Mikey thought for a moment on his next course of action and waited to start the cart on its getaway. He looked at Johanna and Adelbert who was coming very close to him and the cart. He then exclaimed "Ante Up!"
Just then, a sword from Mikey's inventory materialized beside him and flew towards Adelbert. Adelbert was shocked and caught off guard by the barrage of attacks that came his way from the now autonomous sword. He was forced to stop his advance towards Johanna and Mikey as he tried to fight the sword, and was pushed back in the process.
Unsurprsingly Mikey reached the cart first, while Johanna was still running in front of Adelbert, who slowly started catching up. Her game avatar might have been better suited for running than her frail real-life body, however, for the same reason she wasn’t very used to it and the proper technique.
“Miss? Why are you following that robber!”, the town guard exclaimed bewildered.
“I want to see, where his story ends”, Johanna stoically replied, when a sharp pain in the right side of her torso made her stop for just a brief moment. What was that sensation? She had never experienced it before. A stitch? For something so benign the pain was almost unbearable. Nevertheless, she forced herself ahead. She would not lose this storyline to having breathed wrong. Every step hurt, or was it every inhalation? The pain preoccupied her to a degree, so that she almost didn’t notice the sword flying directly towards her face. In the last second, she was able to deflect it with her armor’s vambrace above her head, where it started fighting Adelbert on its own. Then she could finally jump into the back of the cart, which immediately started moving.
Johanna kept laying in curled up position between the crates. One gasp following another. Never in her life had she experienced this kind of pain inside her body. It took a while of continuous deep breaths for the stitch to fade. Looking outside she could see Adelbert clashing with the ownerless sword, until it they had moved a bit and the sword travelled with them, guarding the entrance Johanna had taken. Although the Antas tried following them on foot, it quickly became obvious he would not be able to reach them for now.
“So…”, Johanna started out with, while she finally got on her knees, “who were these unconscious people at the clearing? Your accomplices? Purchasers?”

Adelbert stood in the woods as he watched Mikey and Johanna's cart dart away in the distance. He thought Johanna's words in astonishment. What? She wants to see a story? Does this woman have no regard for crime and morality? He kneeled down from exhaustion and stared at the ground, thinking about the events which had transpired and his next course of action.
On the outskirts of the woods, the now escaped cart was heading back along on its previous path. Mikey tugged on the reigns of the cart and started answering Johanna's question. "They were my accomplices yes. Members of the same gang as me. They were supposed to take the goods from this cart to another location for some vague purposes, but our trade was intercepted by that guard. Now that the trade has failed. I'll head on over to that location myself and deliver the goods."
He paused to think for a moment before continuing. "As for what the purpose of all this. All I remember being told was that these goods are supposed to aid some sort of Antas Rebellion along the northern border with Firenz."
Welcome to the help dialog for the Custom Mini-Profile Creator plugin!
Click on any of the tabs above to go through the plugin configuration process!
You can access this menu at any time by clicking on the icon in the bottom right bar (may not be applicable if you're on Forums.net), or you can disable the welcome window and/or the icon by going to Plugins > Manage > Custom Mini-Profile Creator and changing the Show Help option.
This step is essential as it gives the plugin everything it needs on the page to get as much profile information as possible.
To make the profile variables work you'll need to add a new line to the very end of Themes > Layout Templates > Mini-Profile and paste the code below on it. The code should be placed completely outside of the mini-profile, so if you're using the default mini-profile template this will be after the very last closing </div> tag. This needs to be done on every theme you have the plugin enabled on as the template is theme-specific.
If your mini-profile template is already customized and you've hit the variable limit for your template you're free to remove any lines from the code below if they contain information that you don't plan on using. For example, if you have no plans to ever add a user's IP to their mini-profile for staff reference you can remove <div class="mp-info ip">$[user.ip]</div> from the code and everything else will still work just fine.
Once you've added the HTML from the Layout Templates tab you're ready to move on to building your mini-profiles. If you want to get going and try some out now or you're not very adept at HTML, CSS, or Javascript, worry not! This plugin includes some examples for you to try out. You're free to skip to the Custom Profile Fields tab and read over this tab later when you're ready to build your own.
Here's a quick rundown of each of the components in Plugins > Manage > Custom Mini-Profile Creator:
Name This is the name you'll be adding to your custom profile field dropdown once you've finished coding the mini-profile. Pretty self-explanatory. Make sure this name is unique from every other name you use for your mini-profiles or you'll end up overwriting the earlier ones in the list.
HTML This is the HTML that will go inside your mini-profile. You can use just about any HTML tag here so long as it's appropriate for where the mini-profile is showing on the page. Please refrain from using <style> or <script> tags here. You have the next two sections for that! Also, remember that mini-profiles can show multiple times on the same page, so you shouldn't add ID attributes to any of your elements here. Two elements on the same page cannot have the same ID per HTML standards.
CSS This is where you'll place what would normally go in your forum's style sheet or what would normally be between <style> tags. Try to code your mini-profile's HTML in a way that will allow you to target it specifically with your selectors. For example, you can surround all of the content in your HTML with a <div> element with a class and target that class and its child elements specifically with your CSS. That way you don't accidentally target every mini-profile on the page with CSS that was meant for the one you're building. One more thing: The forum theme's CSS still applies beforehand, so your mini-profile may look right in one theme but not in another. The best way to circumvent this is to define as many styles as you can to override the theme's CSS.
Javascript Anything that normally goes between <script> tags will go here. This one's a bit tricky since you'll obviously want to target the custom mini-profile specifically. Luckily there's an easy way to do that. In your statements you can use the $(this) variable to target the mini-profile if you're coding using jQuery. Otherwise, if you only plan on using standard Javascript you can target $(this)[0] instead.
Once you've finished building your mini-profiles it's finally time to add them to the Edit Profile page for use! To enable selection of custom mini-profiles you'll first need to add two specific custom profile fields in Members > Custom Profile Fields in your forum's admin area:
Mini-Profile Theme
Staff Mini-Profile Theme
Mini-Profile Theme is for mini-profiles that are designed for member use. You can set the Who Can Edit option for this field to Staff With Power if you only want staff to be able to choose mini-profiles for users. Otherwise, if you want members to freely be able to choose their own mini-profiles you can choose Members and Staff With Power.
Staff Mini-Profile Theme is for mini-profiles designed specifically for staff use. This field is completely optional.
Set the type for both of these fields as Drop Down Selection. Click on the (View/Edit) link to add mini-profile names to each of these fields.
If you've just installed this plugin you should have three different mini-profiles already installed by default: Example 1, Example 2, and Example 3. You can add these to your dropdowns to test them out and see the plugin in action.
If you're having trouble getting this plugin to work despite following the instructions in the previous tabs you may want to check that each of your themes meets the prerequisites below in Themes > Layout Templates > Mini-Profile.
First, ensure that opening tag of your mini-profile template includes the $[miniprofile_class] variable in its class. On the default ProBoards theme it should look something like this:
<div class="$[miniprofile_class]">
Next, make sure that the default {foreach} loop for custom fields is present inside your mini-profile. It doesn't need to be visible, so you're free to add it inside a hidden element if you don't plan on displaying it or if it would mess up the appearance of your own custom template.
Beyond that you can do whatever you like to the mini-profile template for the most part and it shouldn't negatively impact the plugin.
The following is a list of available variables for use in the HTML section of the mini-profile creator and their definitions. Adding any of these to a mini-profile will generate the content described in its definition in place of the variable so long as the information that variable outputs is visible to you.
To reference your forum's custom profile fields you can use $[user.customfieldname], substituting "customfieldname" with your custom field's name. You'll need to type the name in all lowercase with no spaces and only use characters A-Z and 0-9.
For example, Mini-Profile Theme becomes $[user.miniprofiletheme]. This will output the value of the custom field. In the case of this example, it'll be the name of the mini-profile theme you've chosen in your profile.
IMPORTANT NOTE: These will only work if you followed the steps in the Installation tab of this window on each of your themes. Any themes that do not include the template code specified there will not have these variables replaced in the mini-profile.

You can utilize the $(this) variable in the Javascript component to target the mini-profile <div> element. For example, if you wanted to add a class to the mini-profile you can use:
$(this).addClass('class-name-here');
Profile variables can also be used in the Javascript component in this plugin. In Javascript the value undefined is used to signify that a value doesn't exist for the variable you've specified. With this in mind you can use profile variables in Javascript conditional statements within the plugin similar to how they're used in the actual layout templates section of the admin area.
if(variable) will only run if the variable you specify has a value.
if(!variable) will only run if the variable you specify has no value.
Example 1 (variable has value):
if(user.group){
$(this).find('.group').show();
}
If the user has their group displayed in their profile the above Javascript would make the HTML below visible if you had it hidden with CSS.
